A skyline visit can be a shared highlight without being a shared obligation. Before choosing a Tokyo observation-deck ticket, ask what each person wants from the visit: photographs, height, an indoor view or simply time together.
Agree on the experience first. Then check the exact ticket, weather conditions and the rest of the evening.
Planning Q&A
EmmaShould everyone buy the same ticket?

Only if the experience suits everyone. Ask about comfort with heights and desired visit length directly; age does not answer those questions.
Choose the shape of the visit
| Plan | Useful when | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Go together | Everyone wants the paid experience | The included areas and a workable visit length |
| Separate, then reunite | Some prefer another activity | Independent navigation, supervision and an exact meeting point |
| Keep it optional | The view matters more than a fixed date | Availability and terms when you are ready to buy |
Separate poor visibility from a closure
The Tokyo Skytree FAQ says poor visibility does not qualify for a refund. A ticket is therefore not a promise of clear skies or a particular distant landmark.
The official change and cancellation page separates purchase channels. For LINKTIVITY purchases, it describes changing the date by cancelling and purchasing again. Check cancellation costs, exceptions and replacement availability before acting.

Does that mean an OTA ticket follows the same rules?

Do not assume so. Save the conditions attached to the exact product and seller you choose, including any bundled activity or meal.
Keep the evening workable
Use the official entry guidance and include station-to-entrance travel.
Allow room for entry procedures and the onward trip before dinner. Do not invent a guaranteed queue time.
Choose a specific meeting point and contact plan if the group separates.
Planning note: a cafe or shopping area is only a useful alternative after checking its actual location, hours and suitability. Do not promise somebody a seat while the rest of the group goes upstairs.
Use the official admission guide for the entrance, and our Tokyo dinner-booking guide for the meal that follows.

Should we reserve a second attraction as a backup?

Only if you understand both commitments. A backup that creates another deadline or cancellation cost may reduce your freedom to change the day.
- Included areas and date/time on the exact ticket.
- Visibility, restriction, cancellation and change terms.
- Each person’s willingness to take part.
- Entrance route, dinner gap and meeting plan.
- Current operating notices before leaving.
