For a longer Tokyo stay, housekeeping belongs in the booking decision. One traveler may want fresh towels; another may need an uninterrupted afternoon in the room. Ask about the actual service rather than assuming everyone wants the same routine.
Separate frequency, tasks and room access. “Housekeeping available” does not answer all three.
Planning Q&A — editorial scenarios
EmmaDoes daily service mean fresh sheets every day?

Do not assume so. Ask separately about towel replacement, bed-making and linen changes. They are different tasks.
Read the schedule and the task list together
The MIMARU FAQ distinguishes daily towel and bath-mat replacement and vacuuming from scheduled cleaning starting on the third day, then every two days, excluding check-in day. That scheduled service covers the bathroom and other areas except the kitchen, with beds made. Extra cleaning is chargeable and should be requested ahead. Ask your property to map this wording onto your dates; bed-making alone does not confirm a linen change.
For a different published cadence, CapitaLand’s Somerset Ginza East Tokyo page lists weekly housekeeping. That short description does not settle towel supply, kitchen tasks or your first service date. Confirm the terms for the accommodation and rate you can actually book.
| Ask about | Why it changes the stay | Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Towels and rubbish | Small daily needs can remain between cleans | Supply, collection and guest instructions |
| Bathroom and kitchen | The included areas may differ | Tasks excluded and who handles them |
| Beds and linen | Making a bed is not the same as changing sheets | Change frequency and extra fees |
| Room access | Somebody may return before the others | Service window and request procedure |

Can we simply arrange cleaning around an afternoon break?

Ask before relying on that plan. A request and a confirmed arrangement are different; keep the day flexible until the hotel replies.
Turn the policy into a workable stay
Ask which days include each type of service.
Explain an afternoon rest or another concrete preference without inferring needs from age.
Save the reply, fees and request procedure with your reservation.
Planning note: decide who handles any excluded kitchen tasks and rubbish instructions. An apartment setup may suit your group, but the work should not silently fall to the first person back.

Is more frequent cleaning always the better choice?

Choose what fits your stay. Compare the service, privacy preferences and remaining tasks; frequency alone is not a quality rating.
- Dates and tasks for the actual booked rate.
- Towel supply, rubbish instructions and linen changes.
- Kitchen exclusions and extra-cleaning costs.
- Room-access requests and any required entry.
- A shared plan for tasks left to the group.
